  • How to Live A Life You Love

How to Live A Life You Love

Dopamine decor, in its simplest and most delightful form, is all about decorating your home with things that bring you joy. It’s about filling your life with bits and pieces that make your heart skip a beat and your face light up with a smile. This isn’t just a decorating style; it’s a whole lifestyle philosophy I like to call “dopamine living”—indulging in everything that brings you joy.

Now, let me share a little secret: I’m a bit of a perfectionist. Everything in my home has its designated spot, and I’ve always believed in the mantra, “a place for everything and everything in its place.” But adopting the dopamine lifestyle has allowed me to be kinder and more forgiving with myself. It’s given me a newfound grace that I cherish.

Recently, I bought a couple of adorable Hello Kitty drinkware pieces and a Care Bears mug. At first, I hesitated, thinking, “Aren’t I too old for this? Do I really need them?” But then, I realized I absolutely do need them because they make me smile. And you know what? I use them just as much as I use my fancy porcelain pieces. Speaking of which, my porcelain dinnerware is no longer reserved for special occasions—I choose to delight in the finer things daily.

Now, let’s talk about trends. Honestly, I think they’re overrated! The essence of dopamine living is to surround yourself with what gives you, specifically you, those happy tingles. Some might dismiss this as just another trend, but I beg to differ. There’s no blueprint for this lifestyle. Traditional or farmhouse styles come with pre-made templates, but dopamine living is all about what makes your heart sing.

Imagine polka-dot flamingos, Strawberry Shortcake t-shirts, and astronauts sipping milkshakes. Think floral armchairs with striped pillows, or perhaps having your favorite breakfast every morning. However you choose to live, that’s the exact definition of dopamine living. Embrace your unique individuality and do what makes you glow.

So, here’s to living joyfully, filling our spaces with what makes us happy, and celebrating our unique tastes every single day. Cheers to dopamine decor and the beautiful, messy, joyful life it brings!

Simple Cleaning Methods for the Overwhelmed Procrastinator

Hey there, lovelies! Let’s dive into a topic near and dear to my heart: cleaning. Now, I’ll be the first to admit it – I’m a bit of a lazy gal at heart. If I could spend all day lounging in bed, you bet I would! But alas, life calls for a bit more hustle than that.

You see, I’ve had my fair share of challenges, including a serious accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. It’s left me with some cognitive hurdles to jump over – think memory loss, trouble concentrating, and piecing things together. So, to keep myself on track, I’ve become a master of structure and planning. And today, I want to share a peek into how I tackle the chore monster that is cleaning.

First up, let’s talk Time Blocks. Picture this: a blissful three-and-a-half-hour chunk dedicated solely to cleaning. Within that, I slice and dice my tasks into Micro-blocks, each with its own timer set for around 45 minutes. Whether it’s scrubbing the kitchen or fluffing up the living room pillows, I dive in with gusto until that timer dings. Then, it’s onto the next task, even if the first isn’t quite finished. Trust me, it’s a game-changer for us easily overwhelmed gals. And here’s a little pro tip: keep those Micro-blocks short and sweet to stay on track and avoid overwhelm.

Now, onto option two: the weekday warrior approach. I’ve divvied up my chores Monday through Friday, leaving my precious weekends blissfully chore-free. Mondays are for kitchen wizardry, Tuesdays tackle the laundry beast, and so on until every nook and cranny sparkles.

As for why I choose one method over the other? Well, it all depends on the week ahead and what my schedule looks like. Sometimes, the structured time blocks reign supreme for efficiency’s sake. Other times, the weekday breakdown feels like a breath of fresh air.

And hey, if you’re curious about how I wrangle all aspects of life into my planning system, from work to personal stuff, I’ve got you covered. Just click on that little thumbnail in the post notes below labeled “The Ultimate Checklist” for a detailed peek behind the curtain.

Thanks a bunch for swinging by, y’all! Your support means the world. Drop a comment, share the love, or hang out with me on social – all the links you need are down below. Cheers to tackling life, one chore at a time!

  • How to Stay Focused in the Winter Months

How to Stay Focused in the Winter Months

As the days grow shorter and the temperatures drop, many of us find it increasingly challenging to stay focused and motivated during the darker, colder months of the year. The allure of cozy blankets, warm drinks, and holiday festivities can be distracting, making it tempting to abandon our goals and succumb to the winter blues. However, with the right strategies and mindset, you can not only maintain your focus but also thrive during this season. In this blog post, we’ll explore some effective ways to stay focused and productive during the dark, colder months.

    • Embrace the Power of Natural Light

One of the most significant challenges during the winter months is the limited daylight. To combat the feeling of lethargy and keep your focus sharp, make the most of the available natural light. Position your workspace near a window, and keep curtains or blinds open during the day to maximize your exposure to sunlight. Consider investing in a light therapy lamp, which can help regulate your circadian rhythm and boost your mood.

    • Create a Cozy and Productive Workspace

While it’s tempting to work from the comfort of your bed or the couch, creating a dedicated workspace is crucial for maintaining focus. Set up a cozy, organized, and well-lit area where you can work without distractions. Personalize it with items that inspire you, such as motivational quotes, plants, or artwork, to make it an inviting place to work.

    • Stick to a Routine

Establishing a daily routine can be a powerful tool for staying on track during the darker months. Set consistent wake-up and bedtime hours to regulate your internal clock. Include time for exercise, healthy meals, and breaks to recharge. Having a structured routine can help you stay disciplined and focused on your tasks.

    • Prioritize Self-Care

Taking care of your physical and mental well-being is essential during the winter months. Incorporate self-care practices like regular exercise, a balanced diet, and mindfulness meditation into your daily routine. These activities can boost your energy, reduce stress, and improve your overall focus and productivity.

    • Set Clear Goals

Setting clear and achievable goals is a great way to stay motivated. Break your larger tasks into smaller, manageable steps, and create a to-do list for each day. This will provide a sense of accomplishment as you complete these tasks, helping you stay focused and motivated.

    • Stay Social and Engaged

Isolation can be a common issue during the colder months, but staying connected with friends and family is essential for your mental and emotional well-being. Plan social activities, whether virtual or in-person, to maintain a sense of community and prevent feelings of loneliness or isolation.

    • Embrace Winter Activities

Instead of resenting the cold weather, embrace it by participating in winter activities. Whether it’s skiing, ice skating, or simply taking a brisk walk in the snow, physical activity can help keep you alert and focused while making the most of the season.

    • Minimize Distractions

With the coziness of winter comes various distractions. Identify your most common time-wasting activities, such as excessive scrolling on social media, and use website blockers or apps to limit your access during work hours.

Staying focused during the dark, colder months is entirely achievable with the right strategies and a positive mindset. Embrace the winter season by optimizing your workspace, sticking to a routine, setting goals, and prioritizing self-care. Remember that balance is key, and by taking care of your well-being and productivity, you can make the most of this season and remain focused and motivated throughout the winter.

  • 7 Steps to Better Time Management

7 Steps to Better Time Management

In today’s fast-paced world, time management and organization skills have become essential. With a never-ending to-do list and numerous tasks that need to be accomplished, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day. However, by following a few simple tips, you can effectively manage your time and organize your day to accomplish all your goals.

    1. Set Your Priorities: The first step towards effective time management is to identify your priorities. Take a few minutes at the start of each day to create a to-do list and prioritize the tasks based on their importance and urgency. This will help you stay focused and ensure that you’re working on the most important tasks first.
    2. Create a Schedule: Once you have your to-do list, it’s time to create a schedule. Schedule specific times for each task, including breaks and time for unexpected interruptions. This will help you stay on track and ensure that you’re making progress toward your goals throughout the day.
    3. Use a Calendar: A calendar is a great tool for organizing your day and managing your time effectively. Use it to schedule appointments, meetings, and deadlines. It’s also a good idea to schedule time for personal activities, such as exercise or relaxation, to ensure that you’re maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
    4. Eliminate Distractions: Distractions can be a major obstacle to effective time management. To eliminate distractions, turn off notifications on your phone and email, close unnecessary tabs on your computer, and let colleagues know when you’re working on a project that requires uninterrupted focus.
    5. Learn to Say No: It’s easy to become overwhelmed when you’re constantly taking on new tasks and responsibilities. Learning to say no can be a powerful tool in managing your time effectively. Be selective about the tasks you take on and focus on those that align with your goals and priorities.
    6. Take Breaks: Taking breaks is essential for maintaining productivity and avoiding burnout. Make sure to schedule breaks throughout the day to recharge and refresh your mind. Use this time to take a walk, stretch, or simply step away from your desk and give your brain a rest.
    7. Evaluate Your Progress: At the end of each day, take a few minutes to evaluate your progress. Identify areas where you were successful and areas where you need to improve. Use this information to adjust your schedule and priorities for the following day.

In conclusion, time management and organization are essential skills that can help you accomplish your goals and achieve success in both your personal and professional life. Apply these steps to your daily routine to effectively manage your time and organize your day for maximum productivity and success.

  • Organize Your Life One Day at A Time

Organize Your Life One Day at A Time

Many women feel overwhelmed by the demands of the daily grind. Too often we allow ourselves to be pulled in several directions simply because we are not adequately prepared for the day. You wake up and suddenly it seems the morning has gotten away from you. Immediately you shift into overdrive in order to keep everything on schedule. By default, you’ve created an uncontrolled atmosphere that will shape your day and the next.

In this post, we will focus on a basic structure for creating mornings with purpose in four simple steps. Once you have the foundation you can go about your day with ease.

    One: Plan The Perfect Day.

In order to take on the day, you need to plan ahead. The night before, write down everything you would like to accomplish the next day. This list should be a vision of your perfect day. Include people you would like to see or speak to. Write down the absolute must-dos and routines for the upcoming day.  Be sure to add in time for yourself, like going to the gym or even reading a book. Take this time to brainstorm what would truly add value and leave you feeling satisfied by the end of your day.

    Two: Goal Digging.

Look at your perfect day and decide: What can you accomplish with the time and resources you will have available today? This question will put into perspective which ideas you can really move forward with during your day.

    Three: Schedule Your Day.

Be intentional. Divide your time by morning, afternoon, evening, and night then fill in the sections with items from step two. You can also structure your day by the hour. This is your schedule so arrange it in a manner that works best for you. Tip: Create a Top 3 – 5 section for items that must be completed before the day’s end.

    Four: Stick To The Plan.

It’s easy to let things fall by the wayside but challenge yourself to stay the course. Choose a couple of times throughout the day to review your progress. Focus on getting your top items out of the way and applaud yourself as you do so. The goal is to condition yourself for success. If a celebratory cookie keeps you motivated, then by all means have at it.

    Keep This In Mind:

No matter how you go about setting up your day, the best thing you can do is design a morning routine. It is so easy for the morning to slip away and leave you playing catch the rest of the day. Stay within your scope, choose one simple plan that works for you, master it, and then add to it.
